Take in all the Nanaimo surrounding area has to offer. We head North stopping in Parksville to check out the festival season and spectacular beaches.
The next stop is for a good cause, you get to meet local Vancouver Island wild animals who are being rehabilitated to rejoin nature. This is a terrific way to see a black bear without putting you or the animal in danger. Although we are unlikely to see bears in the popular wooded attraction, Cathedral Grove is a great example of Vancouver Island forests, with huge trees you can’t possibly wrap your arms around, but you can try (this makes for a great photo to share about your travels). After a hike we will head to Coombs for a photo opp with the “goats on the roof” and shopping for a beautiful assortment of snacks, gifts and keepsakes. Once our bags are loaded we will make our way back to Nanaimo.
